Daniel Balugay is a Bay Area native and a proud Filipino-American. A champion of nonprofit and community service, Daniel can't sit still when there's work to be done.  Having volunteered with us for several years at our festival before being recruited as a Volunteer Captain, he is thrilled to be working even more closely with the organization as our Membership & Office Manager.

Daniel is a true team player and strives to make each day the best. If he were a machine he'd be a Smile Maker, because he'll put a smile on your face no matter how gloomy a day. Daniel is truly happy to call Frameline home, where his passion for the power of LGBT films can help change the arts, as well as social and political landscapes.

When he’s not on the go, Daniel loves rooting for the World Series Championship team, the SF Giants, adventure sports, geeky online research, and zipping around the Bay Area in any convertible he can get his hands on.

Currently the Director of Educational Programming & Acquisitions, Sarah Deragon started working for the best little LGBT non-profit in the world back in 2007 as part of the festival staff for Frameline32’s. Sarah has always been obsessed with movies and working at Frameline is a wonderful way for her to combine her love for queers and her need to organize the hell out of everything. Frameline is fortunate to have her strategic expertise in growing our educational outreach and filmmaker support programs, including Youth in Motion and the new Frameline Voices project. She grew up in Denver, Colorado, and has a BA in literature and an MA in social and cultural anthropology.

In her spare time, Sarah loves taking photographs, crafting, baking chocolate mayonnaise cupcakes, getting tattoos, and spending quality time with her wife.

Jennifer grew up in the Southwest and got her business degree at The University of Texas at Austin. Frances Wallace

Director of Strategic Partnerships & Programmer

Frances Wallace is Frameline’s Director of Strategic Partnerships & Programmer. Originally from the island of Tasmania, she fell in love with the all things American, so she got a dinghy (not a dingo!) and rowed across the Pacific. Having worked for Frameline’s Film Festival for almost a decade, Frances is proud to be a part of this historical queer world event that wows audiences annually. Frances, who resides in New York City, acts as Frameline's point of contact on the East Coast.

Frances studied film producing and screenwriting at New York University and worked as Film Festival Manager & Programmer for the CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival in New York. She has established relationships with major broadcast channels and distributors to support Frameline's high-quality LGBT programming and facilitate industry connections with independent filmmakers. Frances loves the people she works with and feels blessed to be part of this fab-queer community.

A champion of new media, Alex dreams in HTML/CSS and ponders our Google Analytics profiles over breakfast every morning.

Philip Walker

Philip Walker
Sponsorship Associate

When he’s not on the phone being nice to sponsors, Philip Walker enjoys being a sore loser at video games, office bake-offs and drinking lots of coffee. This is Philip’s fourteenth Festival at Frameline (which means he has been working here since he was sixteen. SIXTEEN.) He obviously can’t quit Frameline, and loves working with such a smart, overachieving group of people who despite being so cool all have unfortunate tennis camp photos ready to share at a moment’s notice.

A Chicago native with Bay Area flair, Alexis Whitham is in her fourth festival season at Frameline having previously worked as Publications Manager, Theatre Manager, Print Traffic Assistant, and unofficial office organizer. In her second year as Programming & Hospitality Associate, Alexis spends most of her time communicating with amazing filmmakers, navigating the depths of FileMakerPro, and planning the Festival’s official cocktail to be served in the green room this June.

In her spare time Alexis enjoys good beer, great friends, organizing impromptu Oakland sporting events, and scheming to defeat Philip Walker in bake-off challenges.
