Guide to the Festival

San Francisco

The world-famous Castro Theatre will be the stately setting for the majority of Festival screenings. With the grandeur of its elegant chandelier and grand screen, and with its Mighty Wurlitzer sending organ chords thrumming all the way to the back of the balcony, the Castro Theatre is an ideal venue for many of Frameline32’s bigger-than-life feature films.

This year marks the return of Frameline’s much-beloved AT&T Festival Pavilion, which provides entertainment, education and event space for festival moviegoers. The Pavilion will be an exciting place for people to connect with, and hear from, filmmakers, industry insiders, and friends in the community. Located behind San Francisco’s iconic Castro Theatre, the AT&T Festival Pavilion will be the primary venue for filmmaker question & answer sessions, industry panel discussions, member events and VIP functions.

Over in the Mission District, the thriving neighborhood’s funky flair and international flavors will imbue screenings at the Roxie Film Center and Victoria Theatre with edgy excitement.

Close proximity among these venues—with tons of great restaurant choices in between—allows for easy to-and-fro frolicking from theatre to theatre, so plan on maximizing your Festival days and nights with plenty of screenings around town.

Berkeley

Frameline moves our East Bay offerings slightly north and into the Rialto Cinemas Elmwood. With plenty of dining options in the thriving Elmwood district of Berkeley, this is bound to become a destination venue. Join us in this renovated art-deco treasure and “Berkeley’s Best Neighborhood Movie Theatre.”
