Ever had a one-night stand that seemed like a really good idea at that weekend party but, under the bright lights of the office on Monday morning, well, not so much? This refreshing romantic comedy amusingly explores what happens when Saturday’s trick unexpectedly shows up at Monday’s meeting — on the other side of the conference table.
Jonathan (Christopher Colquhoun) is a bright, talented (and easy-on-the-eyes) London advertising director. At an awards party, he hooks up with David (Stephen Billington), a charming and charismatic American. A passionate night with the American stranger turns out not to be the one-night thing Jonathan expected, when he soon discovers that David is the agency’s new top client.
Ever mindful of social graces — and the unpleasant and unfortunate company policy of not sleeping with clients — Jonathan tries to put an end to the obvious attraction. But, now alienated, David won’t be bested. The result, in classic screwball-comedy fashion, is a hilarious game of one-upmanship. But as one seeks to outwit the other, the masks slowly come down to ultimately reveal the simmering passion underneath.
Guaranteed to bring a smile to even the most jaded of lips, Oh Happy Day will have audiences laughing in the aisles. — ROBERT O’SHAUGHNESSY
