Go inside the history, art and politics of the International Drag KingCommunity Extravaganza (IDKE), one of the world’s largest gatherings of drag kings. The original organizers from Columbus, OH, take a look back at the creation of the event as a means of talking about the art and politics of performance in A Drag King Extravaganza. With the help of a Greek chorus of performers, attendees, fans and one particularly endearing troupe from Toronto who’s been there since the beginning, we experience the ten-year history of IDKE. Drag “can be anything you want it to be” with the IDKE, an evolving institution that not only gathers together a showcase of talented artists, but also is a vital piece of our collective history. Don’t miss Bay Area favorites Kentucky Fried Woman and Jake Danger!
