Date Lines, San Francisco Chronicle

The opening night film at the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival has been announced: Affinity written by Britain's Sarah Waters. The author is best known for "Tipping the Velvet," which was made into a TV series in England.

Much of the story in Affinity is set in prison where a do-gooder upper-class lady visits to buoy the spirits of female prisoners. She finds herself attracted to one young convict and forgets all about the do-gooding stuff. The film features Anna Massey, Amanda Plummer and Anna Madely.

Frameline32 opening night will be at 7 p.m. June 19 at the Castro followed by a party at the 1015 Folsom nightclub.
